Stockton New Jersey is located at the crossroads of two important routes in Hunterdon County. The first important historic route is that of Route 29 from Trenton to Frenchtown NJ, and the second is Pennsylvania Route 263 from Lahaska PA to Stockton. In 1811, a bridge was built here from Centre Bridge on the Pennsylvania side to Stockton.
Over the years, Stockton was a stopping point on the Delaware and Raritan Canal, built in 1832, and later it was a stopping point on the Belvidere Delaware Railroad (Bel Del Railroad). The old train station is shown in the photo to the left. It is now the home of Errico's Market and Deli.
