Savannah tourists wait for the bus to take off on a tour of Savannah

We took one of the tour busses or trolleys a few days after we arrived in Savannah the first time because we wanted to get an overview of the different neighborhoods of the historic district. The tour did give us exactly what we wanted, but it also gave us a "heapin heppin" of Southern unhospitality and stereotypes.

The tour guide that we ended up with considered themself a comedian and thought it was great fun to make fun of modern art, SCAD students and anyone who was not from the south. I just hope that if you take one of these tours, you don't get the person that we did.

When we left the bus, we reminded the guide that some of those Damn Yankees helped pay their salary. They were delighted that they had p**sed us off. We were fine after a few blocks of ranting. Story continues below.

We highly recommend that anyone coming to Savannah take one of the many tours to get this essential overview of the city. It gives you a better idea of the places in the city that you will want to come back to and investigate more.
