Just off of Forsyth Park in the Southern section of the historic district lies one of our favorite Savannah homes. Behind the wrought iron fence, we found one of the most interesting architectural features we have ever seen. These "topiary steps" leading up to the porch, accented with red amaryllis stopped us dead in our tracks on one of our walks.
Savannah shows it's sophisticated style at every turn. From the traditional grand style of the Telfair Art Museum to the modern style of the Jepson Center For the Arts, this is a city of diversity. From the down-home culinary style of Mrs. Wilkes to the contemporary creations of The Sapphire Grill, the city shows it is not one dimensional. From little antique shops hidden on side streets to other stores that sell fabulous modern furniture, Savannah has something for every style.
In our feature photo, this home features a wide porch, wrought iron chandelier, wide brick entry steps, arched carved panel entry doors, cast iron urns with fern plantings, Corinthian capitals and Victorian ornamentation. |
