Luxurious, Quiet, Private Savannah Bed + Breakfast
When we first started investigating a trip to Savannah, early on we found a charming little bed and breakfast with a certain European flair, The Armstrong Inns Chatham Suites.
One of the things that sold us on this place was it's location on a quiet tree lined street facing Chatham Square. There are lots of choices for romantic getaways in Savannah, but this inn offers the opportunity to live for a few days in a residential neighborhood in luxury, peace and quiet. Staying here, you feel much more like a local and you can walk or bike a few blocks in any direction and find Savannah's best restaurants, museums and quaint little shops.
Another thing we liked about the Chatham Suites was the privacy. At some bed and breakfast inns you are forced to meet your fellow guests in the morning when you come down for breakfast. At the Chatham Suites, your breakfast is already supplied in your room, so it is easy to have breakfast in bed or on the back patio or porch.
For those of you who are picky eaters or who just love to cook, the upstairs suite (The Chatham Suite) here has a well equipped kitchen and a stocked pantry. This is perfect for travelers looking to spend a longer vacation in Savannah and who do not want to go out to eat for every meal.
The Chatham Suite is a two floor suite that feels like a luxurious private home. It has a first floor with a very large living room, dining room, breakfast bar, kitchen (large refrigerator, freezer, gas stove, pantry, copper pots and pans, large sink), back porch, private entrance, two fireplaces and more. The second floor has a bath with tub and shower, large walk in closet, small private balcony overlooking Chatham Square park, fireplace and a queen sized four poster canopy bed.
The Garden Suite is a charming smaller suite with a private back yard patio surrounded by brick walls, vines and tropical plants. It has a breakfast area with a small refrigerator, a sitting area next to the fireplace, a private bath, large closet, a queen sized down/feather mattress and a private entrance that faces Chatham Square park.
In the small feature photo above and the large detail photo at the bottom of the page, is shown a view of our luxurious suite with owner William Armstrong's original artwork and a complimentary bottle of wine, fruit and cheese that was awaiting us on our arival in Savannah.

The last but most important reason that we consider this Savannah's best bed and breakfast is the owners themselves. William (Bill) Armstrong and Monique Armstrong are two of the most interesting and hospitable people that we have ever met on our yearly travels. William is a visual artist who does impressive oil paintings of the local landscape and his wife Monique is a charming and beautiful French woman with incredible style and sophistication. It is their own passion for art and antiques that gives their inns a refinement that is rarely seen, and makes them feel like home.
