Yes, my great-grandfather came through Ellis Island with his mother and siblings when he was young. We do not know how his father got in to the U.S., though, we do know he came first and then sent for them.

Ooops ...never started a thread before ...guess I could've shared?

My mother's great-great grandfather went through Ellis Island. He and his brother were the only two out of the family that survived the trip. I guess they were like sixteen and seventeen years old when they got here.

I've never been to Ellis Island but plan to visit someday. I think it's amazing, the history that that one little place in time holds.

Hey Faith, You did great with your first post! I watch this one
daily as I find it most intriguing!! I would post ours, but I do not
know! I suspect we are of multi-nationalities, although my Dad's (side) ancestors are mostly English, I believe.

Hey LanasCountry, thanks for the encouragement. I was so busy trying to figure out how to set up the poll thingy that I forgot to tell my own snippet

I just think places like Ellis Island -places where histories begin- are so powerful in there own way. Like they hold a pocket in time, or a weight in time because of what went on there.
