Our beautiful town

I like John's idea for a SID group. There is a lot to fix for our downtown. I would like to talk about the biking people coming to our town. I see them parking their bikes on the corner of Bridge and Race Streets. They show no concern if anyone can get around the bikes or walk on the sidewalk. They bring their own drinks and items to eat. They do not spend much in the way of money at the cafe. They use it as a restroom and a rest stop. They clog-up the area with their bikes and themselves, so that people have to walk in street to get around them. The people that are walking the town are here to shop and eat and spend money, not to use it a rest stop. Can we require the bike people to park their bikes where the motorcycles park. That would free up the area for our paying visitors. I see no benefit in allowing these people to use our downtown corner. They show a lack of respect to the store owners and paying visitors. Please if anyone feels the same speak out and up.

Ranee,

I agree that we need to something about the traffic patterns in the Race/Bridge Street corner, but I don't want to scare anyone away at this point, regardless of how little money they are spending with us because at least they are coming to town. I do however feel that we can encourage them to stay a little longer and possibly spend a little more money with us by making town actually more attractive to cyclists. I think we should give them their own special parking lot-the one now being used for the motorcycles. Make it a bike and bike park complete with a public restroom and lots of racks for bicycles and motorcycles, some grass and trees and benches to relax on also would be great. If we did then maybe they wouldn't need to bother the coffee shop early in the morning to use their facilities. If this all sounds too expensive, then we could somehow direct all bike traffic to the little park besides the creek and the pizza place. There are public facilities there already and there is certainly enough space for tons of cyclists.

Ranee, I do really agree with you about this because I know that sometimes it is absolutely impossible to walk on the sidewalk there. We as a community should search to find some solutions to this problem and fix it!

Hi guys, That's a great idea to have the bicyles park at the old gas station empty asphalt lot. It look horrible! If someone could make that area look better and use it for something, that would be wonderful. Now if we could just someone to actually care for our town park a little more it would be great.

I like the idea of the old gas station area. I would like to thank the person who put up the trilles on the side of the buliding and chairs and tables. It really give the place a homey look and I saw one of the motorcylces useing it . We the people still have the power to fix our town ..

Hello everyone!
If you feel bad about those bicycles parking anywhere howm much more tricycles. I really hate those drivers in our town who park tricycles in front of our gate. Good if I get an entance fee. Hope drivers will realize that there's always a parking lot in other places not infront of our home.

ShinningStar, who would be "driving a tricylce" except a kid, and why would they park in front of your gate? Seems kinda silly to me.
