Default Does anyone use a french press?

I don't always have the time but when I do, the very best coffee taste is made with a french press.
Take a relaxed morning and try it, you will be amazed at the clarity of the flavor of your coffee.

I've probably seen a french press, but I'm not familiar with the term.

Is that what's used to brew coffee with the steam being forced through the ground coffee, similar to an espresso maker?

Ricardo,

I just added a photo to the listing above so that you can see what one looks like. We don't use one at home, but when we went to the Hotel Fauchere in Milford Pennsylvania in the Poconos, they used one and it did make incredible coffee. We bought two of them from the thrift store after that, but we haven't used either one yet. So far, we are just using our Kitchen-Aid drip coffeemaker which has lasted longer and made better coffee for us than a lot of more expensive ones that we've tried.

FT

I have used a French press and I like using it. Coffee tastes better and I enjoy using it. I use my French press for tea too. I don't care much for tea bags, although they are convenient, but I like using loose tea better. I brew my tea with my press and the flavor is much better than with a bag.

I have never used one, but I have heard that the taste is very good. My friend uses one and tells me coffee is very good in it as well as tea.

I've never tried making tea in my french press, I'll have to do that. Do you do the same thing with the loose tea that you do with the coffee grounds?

I love using my french press. At first it was hard to get used to but then it got easier. I only use it on the weekends I don't have the patience for it during the week. The coffee in the french press is excellent.

Hey frenchtowner, thanks for posting the picture of it. I've seen them, but I've never used them.

I have used a cappuccino maker though, both the stove-top kind and the one that looks more like a stand-alone coffee maker. Sometimes I just make espresso.

I have seen one at a friend's house during a dinner party, but don't have one of my own, and have no clue how they are better than other coffee makers or pots.

How does it make the coffee taste better? Does it allow the grounds to lie in warm water longer that makes the difference, or is there a special grind used with it?
