I will try most anything once. I've tried roasted grubs, cooked grasshoppers, and raw, live insects. Roasted grubs were reminiscent of shrimp but with a creamy texture and a hint of nuttiness. Live crickets are a bit like uni (sea urchin) in flavor but slightly crunchy. Fried grasshoppers are kind of nice, especially cooked in butter. They have a nice, "browned" flavor and remind me a little of crawdads with a lot less meat. You eat the whole thing, too, so there's crunch from the exoskeleton.
I eat sushi or sashimi whenever I can but I don't consider those to be adventurous. I've watched a lot of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and I want to have his job.
