It is WONDERFUL FT, and the reason I gave it is because 'vacations' for us are usually at home..THEN I thought well geez..This COULD go on a trip..See we utilize whatever we have! I have a very serious digestive condition that makes nutrition very vital and at times almost impossible, as my system does not utilize the food value of many things..This hits my system like ZAP! I have been known to throw in a Tbls. or 2 of protein powder for and all around healthy SHAKE!!
I am NOT hungry at all when I have my 1/2 (or less) of this for HOURS!
To take on trips.. Take your smallest blender or mixer>> Small amount of ice (hotel ) Small carton NON-FAT yogurt Banana a bit of other fresh fruit (our favs are blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, we have even used GRAPES! The DARK grapes are best for the heart.) Sweetener/honey (if needed)
As I was reading everyone's ideas about traveling and eating out, I thought about it and realized that I never gained much when on eating vacations -- even when I made a tour of some great eateries with people from the area as guides to the best foods.
I think it's because I really enjoyed my foods and didn't waste a mouthful in unthinking eating. I'd have a small breakfast when I knew that lunch was going to be a fun affair or if we had great plans for dinner. And then, in-between meals I wouldn't eat for no good reason. If there wasn't a great meal planned, we all just had something small to tide us over until we could get a good dish of something.
So in-between walking and moving around looking at the locations, and making each meal important, I'd never gain much weight -- if any.
It's those vacations when I had no real plans for meals and just haphazardly ate were the vacations where I'd gain weight.
Well, I just got back from a rip, and I realized that the weight gain problem isn't simply a question of amount, but HABIT. I am far more likely to eat more things as the day progresses, instead of just three square meals--you know, stopping at a roadside fruit stand and seeing a pouch of freshly toasted pecans, that sort of thing. Snacking is my enemy!!!!
One of my biggest downfalls is overeating when I go out. I gain weight really easily when away from home, but with every meal I try to stick to a salad starter and miss out dessert completely as I dont really have a sweet tooth.
