In my home, the fork is used to pick up the food and bring it to the mouth, and the knife stays out of the action until something has to be cut or butter has to be spread!

Oh I see!! Well we use the knife to also push the food onto the fork, to sort of gather it up I suppose you could say.

I think this is the method my friend used. I found it fascinating but haven't tried to really master it. I do pretty well with chopsticks, though!
