Default What is your favorite cheese?

Aged cheese, young cheese, goat's milk, sheep's milk, cow's milk, bloomy, hard, fresh or blue - I love cheese. I'm always trying new kinds of cheese and loving them. If I were forced to choose a favorite I suppose I'd choose a rough category - goat cheeses.

What is your favorite cheese?

Photo above from Wikipedia shows gigantic rounds of cheese at the cheese market in Gouda. I bet the mice are happy here! Original much larger photo is located here. It was taken byGebruiker:Johi and uploaded to Dutch Wikipedia.

Triple crème brie is one of my favorites. I also love hard aged Peco Romano. Our local Wegmans Grocery Store (my favorite grocery store of all time, in the whole world) is an incredible source for exotic and gourmet cheeses from all over the world. They do some layered cake-like creations that will blow your socks off. One of them that they make has dried cranberries, walnuts and homemade caramel sauce. It is a marvelous thing to take to a covered dish dinner, a friend's house or to Thanksgiving dinner. I will ask my friend that has copied Wegman's recipe to give it to me so that we can all share it here.

My favorite cheese is feta -the kind they use on gyros sandwiches. It's delicious in salads too, with lots of onions and tomatoes with oil and vinegar dressing....

Oh, I love feta, too! Especially with that sumac spice they put on it in middle eastern restaurants.

I feel guilty for not honoring all my favorite cheeses. Brie is high on my list along with Pecorino Romano, Emmentaler, Buchette de Chevre, Chevrot, Charollais Affine, and many, many others. Did I mention - I love cheese?

Tonight I picked up a really nice smoked mozzarella which I'm about to dive into.

Huge feta fan. I love just a cube of feta with greek olives on a toothpick and a glass of Sangria...

As did I. I do not really have a favorite if it is incorporated into a meal then there is a different style cheese that makes all my favorite meals what they are.

I love blue cheese, cheddar, Brie, Camembert, Havarti, Gouda... The list goes on.

I was surprised at how rich Gorgonzola was on pizza, with portobello mushrooms. Has anyone here tried that combination?
