Agent Fred, I live in Michigan, too. If you're ever in Grand Rapids we have some nice barbecue places. I can't think of the name of my favorite one, it's a hole in the wall on Wealthy street. There are also some guys that stand out in parking lots with big barbecue metal barrel cooking things on a totally unpredictable schedule - OMFG, there's this one old guy who looks about a hundred years old and he makes the most amazing slow cooked ribs. He puts his rig out on Burton street not far from the freeway. I've had the pleasure of eating his food three times. I hope he passes on his techniques.

Lately I've been hearing alot about Corkys in Memphis, and was wondering if anyone has ever gone there. Their BBQ's are supposed to be the best around.

Coda, I'll have to check this one out. It sounds interesting. Is the sauce more like a clear tangy vinegar sauce?

It's not smothered in the sauce so it's hard to say exactly what it's made up of. It's not too strong with any particular taste, the real taste is in the seasoning, which is spicy without being hot if that makes sense.

I just got back from a trip to Hattiesburg, MS, and I can now recommend a place:

Lethea's Bar-B-Que Inn.

No muss, no fuss, simple and delicious menu. All the meat is slow smoked/cooked, and the homemade sauce is amazing! It's not too spicy, not too sweet, but fits the meat perfectly (and they bring a little pitcher to your table, piping hot, so you can sauce to taste). Also, try their cole slaw. Best slaw sauce I've ever had.

Agent,

Thanks for the tip. You might want to make a note of this in our Mississippi Forum also as well as anything else interesting you found there on in that area.

Hi all,

We just got back from a trip to Chincoteague Virginia which has to be the eternal wasteland of the world when it comes to restaurants, but the one bright spot on the dining scene there was a little roadside trailer with a gravel parking lot called Woody's Barbeque. [aka: Woody’s Beach BBQ]. They had a damn good pulled pork sandwich with a fresh fried onion ring and a yummy big tasty bun. It was about the best barbecue sandwich that I've ever had.

PS, I would give you all a link to their website, but I don't think Woody's got a www.woody yet!
