Favorite San Diego Area Beach

It seems I most often end up in San Diego when I go to the beach. It is never my choice, as I always am just tagging along on a family trip or with the family I work for. Over the years I have been to several beaches in the San Diego area. I am not a big beach person, but I do love the Encinitas beach where you can camp out above it.

What is your favorite San Diego area beach?

In the Santa Barbara County there is a town called Solvang which is in the Santa Ynez Valley. It is a small danish town that attract tourists every year. Solvang is known for it's bakeries and varied cuisine. There are also wine tasting rooms throughout the town. The architecture is what makes the town stand out.

As interesting as that sounds, I certainly would not call that a San Diego area beach/city. Is it even a beach town? All I know is it is way too far north to be San Diego area if it is in Santa Barbara County. So, do you have a favorite San Diego area beach, as I asked in the topic starter?

All. I am fond of beach. When I get angry I go to beach, when I want to cry I go to beach. You know I love to watch the raise and fall of water. I just love all beaches of the world not only San Diego.

The only beach I have been to in California, is Huntington Beach near Los Angeles, I think. Since I have spent my life in Colorado, I wasn't too keen on getting in all that untamed water. I stood where the water was about waist high, just to get the feel for it, and that was quite enough for me!

I would say the best beach I was in San Diego (it was 4 years ago though) was deffinitly La Jolla... I went there only for 3 weeks and in this 3 weeks I was in L.A. 3 days and Las Vegas 3 days so I didnt see every beach in San Diego but of what I saw it was La Jolla my favourite beach

In San Diego, the beach is a way of life, a source of pride and joy, a defining influence in people's lives. the beach i adore much in San Diego is Carlsbad State Beach.

You are right about Solvang. It is a charming place but it is hardly a beach town and it most certainly has nothing to do with San Diego.
