I can imagine people wanting to feed or pet animals, which could be dangerous no matter how gentle the animal normally is.

No, but they announce rules. Anyways, there still are fences that kept the animals from where you are at least there were when I did the train thing. It is not anything at all like a real safari, but it gives the simulation that it is. When I visited it was not made for the animals to even be allowed to go near you or you near them.
