Default Weekend getaway in Arkansas?

I'm looking for a weekend getaway that is less than 3 hours away so that means Ark or OK.
I don't even want to think KS.
Any good ideas?

Default Ouachita Mountains in Oklahoma and Arkansas

ZZ,

Good Morning. I don't know exactly where you're starting from, and if you want more of a family retreat or a more romantic retreat, or if you might have allready been here, but one idea is to investigate the Ouachita [pronounced: Wash-ee-taw] Mountains area in Arkansas and Oklahoma. There are a wide range of types of accomdations in the region from romantic bed and breakfast inns to rustic mountain cabins.

More later.

thanks Frenchtowner, I hadn't even thought of that one, I need to get a map out!
I would like to know about family places and romantic places.
I've heard that Mount Magazine in Arkansas is amazing but I've never been there.

ZZ,

I've never heard about Mount Magazine except for that large pile in the living room that I keep meaning to go through. I'll have to look that one up.

Also, I'll go back and look for some more spots that might offer more choices for both types of vacations, romantic and family, or is this a situation where you'll be bringing the family but leaving them at the cabin one night with friends while the two of you going out for a romantic dinner?

FT
