Personally, I prefer mine with a ton of fresh fruit (usally berries and bananas), light soy milk, almonds, cinnamon, sugar and a little butter. Actually that isn't all I add to mine. I use a mixture of half buckwheat and half oatmeal with a few flax seeds thrown in for texture and either some dates or raisins.
I know that sounds incredibly complex, but it is incredibly good. I don't think I will ever go back to eating eggs and pancakes again. The buckwheat which surprisingly is not a grain or wheat but is actually a fruit is an incredible addition to oatmeal. It isn't cheap, but it adds a marvelous richness to the dish.
Didn't anybody notice my really scary Quaker Oats guy above?
