Welcome to TROOP 519

The images on this web site's banner show some of the exciting things this great bunch of guys does each year.

Scouts in Action

All these trips require planning, organization, preparation, and skill development. This is how scouts develop personal responsibility and learn communication and leadership skills.

Scouting is different from organized sports

In sports the coach does the planning. In scouting, the scouts do the planning and organizing. Adults are involved for safety, skill instruction, and to help guide scouts with planning and managing. It can be chaotic at times, but by working together towards a common goal everyone grows a little with each new activity.

A troop consists of patrols

A patrol is like a squad on a team. It consists of 6-8 boys. Patrols make up the troop. Troop 519 currently has five patrols and the troop is lead by the senior patrol leader (SPL). The SPL is a scout who elected by the troop. The SPL works with the scoutmasters to make all this exciting stuff happen.
