Meil's by far has the best comfort food within a 35 mile radius. Dreamy potato pancakes (latke’s) with sour cream & homemade chunky applesauce, wonderful eggs benedict w/ham + oh that Hollandaise, freshly squeezed OJ, desserts that are bountiful & oh so yummy, sweet potato fries, homemade marshmallows, meatloaf & mashed potatoes & their Thanksgiving standard year round turkey & the fixin's - can't be beat. Come early on the weekends – lines get quite long because the secret is out! The Towne Restaurant has been Clinton institution for 27 years. They hava a very loyal local following.
The cafe offers breakfast and lunch, and serves homemade soup, chili, Greek specialties and salads.

I have been going to NICK's for the past 10 years and is hands down cleaner then any diner the Gll listed. We all did not like **** - she is GONE moved away but I still like her (Very New Jersey) Great Chili and HOMEMADE SOUPS (not from a can). NICK AND DINO are the best stop in and say I said to say hello, they will take care of you.

I've been going to this restaurant for the past 5 years, or should say, was. It has a great location and small town feel. However, the food is medicore, at best, the price is high for what you get, and it has probably the worst waitress in New Jersey. She is nasty every day and argues with customers. When I'm there, I make it a point to NOT sit in her area.
Other restaurants, in particular Fine Diner, have replaced this as a great place to go for breakfast and lunch in Clinton.
Avoid the Towne Restaurant and go to Fine Diner instead.
