Lambertville Antiques Guide

Lambertville, once a sleepy factory worker's town, has now become a trendy and upscale tourist destination with incredible dining, fine antique stores and distinctive art galleries. Recently some new funky clothing and home decor boutiques have moved in and added more diversity to the local shopping scene.

Lambertville has become one of the best places to shop for art and antiques in the northeast. That is because of the quantity and quality of the antiques and decorative arts available here. Lambertville offers rare and high-end antiques at The People's Store, Broadmoor Antiques, and a host of other shops along Union Street. For bargain hunters there is The Golden Nugget Flea Market just south of town that is open on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Our Guide to Lambertville begins with an editor's choice of The Best of Lambertville and then moves on to highlight some of the best things to do in the surrounding area.

The Best of Lambertville NJ

Best Place For Cocktails: The Boat House

If you come within 10 miles of Lambertville NJ, do not miss this local institution. There are few places on the face of the earth with this much character and style. (and they make a damn good dry martini!)

Best Place For Seafood: Hamilton's Grill

Hamilton Grill is located across the courtyard from The Boat House and is our favorite local restaurant for creative gourmet dining. Our favorite is their seafood.

Best Place For Breakfast: Sneddon's

Sneddon's has been in this location for as long as I can remember and it carries a lot of memories for myself and a whole host of locals. If you are looking for an All American Breakfast, this is your place.

Best Place For Large Weddings: Lambertville Station

Shown in the photo to the left is Lambertville Station, which is actually a large complex with a 45 room hotel, a ballroom which can host celebrations for up to 150 people with incredible views of the Delaware River, a restaurant, a tavern which often hosts live music, and alfresco dining along the canal in good weather.

Best Place For Art: Jim's of Lambertville

Hidden on a side street, near the river is one of Lambertville's treasures, Jim's of Lambertville. Jim's is a 7,000 square foot art gallery that feels more like a museum because of the rarity and quality of the artworks on show there. The gallery specializes in Pennsylvania Impressionist, Modernist paintings, and New Hope School paintings.
