Frenchtown is two minutes from Bucks County, and close to New Hope, Lambertville, and Flemington. It is at the center of a region rich in history and culture. Starting in Frenchtown you can drive in any direction and find hundreds of things to do for a day and come back to relax, dine, shop and sleep in Frenchtown.

Frenchtown is a river town, located at the convergence of two creeks surrounded by sheer rock cliffs and the rolling hills of Hunterdon County. Frenchtown is nestled in a valley called the Delaware Valley on the upper Delaware River.

Frenchtown is a recreation destination for biking, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, boating, fishing, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, bowling and roller skating. We are a great active sport vacation destination.

Frenchtown is a place of historic architecture. In the downtown commercial district along Bridge Street and Race Street you will find many structures that date back over 100 years. One of those buildings is an Italianate Mansion that is now the home to a new medical spa. In recent years, some of key buildings have been renovated and greatly enhanced the architectural landscape here.

Frenchtown is a commercial center, and has been since the 1700's. It is a tiny village with a cosmopolitan New York and Philadelphia style. It is home to working artist studios/galleries, fine antique stores, furniture stores, home decor shops, unique clothing boutiques, intimate little cafes, fine dining and ethnic restaurants, coffee houses, card, gift and book shops.

Frenchtown has an incredibly rich and quirky history that dates back to it's settlement in 1741 as a local commerce and transportation center. Many of the first investors that owned this land are famous figures in New Jersey and United States Revolutionary War history from Robert Hunter Morris to James and William Alexander. The man who is our namesake however is Paul Henri Mallet-Prevost who immigrated here from Paris at the time of the French Revolution. Originally from Switzerland, his family has it's roots in France. Whether Frenchtown is truly a "French Town" has been an ongoing argument for the last century.
