This photo was taken just after sundown in January of 2008 from the balcony of the high rise hotel and condominium complex, 12 at Centennial Park. This trendy modern suite hotel is one of the newest ones in downtown Atlanta Georgia. In the lobby there is the restaurant and sushi bar Room at Hotel Twelve. The hotel is amazingly quiet and it is funny but you never even realize that the highways are that close to you here until you look out the window.
The traffic never lets up in Atlanta. It seems that regardless of how many lanes they add to the highways here, it’s just never enough. During the morning and afternoon rush hours, travel can be as taxing as it is anywhere in the country. Atlanta is a giant crossroads and meeting place of the Interstate highway system. In Atlanta Interstate 75 that runs from near Miami to Northern Michigan joins up and then separates from Interstate 85 that runs from Montgomery to Peterson Virginia. Atlanta also serves Interstate 20 that runs from Kent Texas to Florence South Carolina.
